Artist’s foreword

In Apungheon, January by lunar calendar, Eulhae Year (Year of the Swine)

“Straightforward words surprise people

The thoughts, spirit and idea appearing in the world are truthful.

Poetic emotion overflows, telling the truth. A black ethereal mirror is cold and calm.

As civil administration is taken for grand unification, the sky clears the frosty roads and cleans the heaven and the earth.

As what is profoundly right is revealed, the thief is afraid.

Bright light shines all over snow-covered Kunlun Mountains.

Summer weather knows the cold and makes it warm into a fine day.

The luxuriant leaves cover the roof and people look up to it.

I will defend China even if I become a ghost.

I give my loyalty to China.

I will fulfill my grand will, by ruling myself strictly, and being generous to others.

Walking calmly and courageously, how can I expect a return?

Even mayflies do not regret their short life.

Truly transparent, and I do not worry.

Smile and point out foolishness, and never fix sentences.

I was born and have had troubles because time was not right.

Showing my talents and having achievements, I have been accustomed to turbulent life.

Coming to fruition with a brush, and to the end of trouble, fragrance spreads.

When black ink is sprayed to lands, powerful sentences come up.

A solid pine tree at the end of the world wins over the wind, and sings a song spiritually.

Wielding a brush rapidly like a whirlwind, lands are full of songs and warm rain starts to fall.”
