Tao Zheng Wei

Painting is a window through which I have always exchanged things with the external world. I think an artist is able to move others when he truthfully faces himself. I tend to long for old affection. Even an insignificant event makes me recall old memories. I do not address events and things with a superficial view and attitude. I struggle to understand even the most trifling incidents in everyday life. I seek my dreams based on my lifestyle and values. I trace my memories in daily scenes and represent them in paintings. I cannot lead a rapidly evolving society while catching up with the changing times however I gather fragments of my memories and immediately use them for my paintings on the canvas, soothing the past in such a way. The concrete expression of my work is to bring about an ambiguous effect, containing my memories as in old photos. I try to express a hollow truth in this manner, thereby sharing inner truths, old stories of life, and my ideas and troubles with you all.

Wang Jin

We should not summarize work descriptions in a few words since an excessive summary may lead to the loss of crucial content. Each person has his own world that nobody can enter and view, no matter what it is. Even acquaintances are not in the same world however they are in the category of the same story. Talking about my art is always stressful. Describing my work properly is too difficult because I often become too excessive as well as inaccurate. This conception was never derived from a simple idea. It has been formed with the sense of feeling lots of objects. Just as stems and leaves disclose themselves, I am also represented in such a way. Nothing may exist until I emulate what is in my mind with paint.

Gao Fan

I cannot provide an accurate definition of art but I am apparently able to speak on the purpose of artistic creation. There seems to be little difference in whether we engage in artistic creation or work in other fields. That is why we all seek truth, goodness, beauty, and love. Each work has no elemental difference. Each work has distinct features stemming only from a difference in form. My creation and spiritual culture also have the purpose of pursuing truth, good, and beauty. An artistic creation is the process of converting an artist’s individual experience into a social experience. This experience depends on his or her sensibility and intelligence, just like the works on display at this exhibition. All works of emotional experience have derived from enlightenment by chance. They thus lack any strict unity. This work deals with the subjects and content of monetary values, experiences from things like knowledge, a self-sacrificing spirit, and human relations. Since I have started to pay attention to this subject long ago, all works of rational experience relatively appear to have unity. The subject is associated with the media. We must have deeper perceptions of TVs, mobile phones, and computers in an ever-growing digital information era. One’s view of life and the world stems from language characters and their images. While one’s personality used to be formed by the influence of their parents and education in schools, this role has been replaced by TVs, computers, and mobile phones. Nowadays the media is language for entertainment. We can predict what view of life and how the world can be formed in this process. As the media itself may cause many problems, I will not mention it here any longer. The media is further enhanced by the media in the information age. The problem of how to perceive and manage it is worth seriously considering today. In closing, I hope viewers could appreciate and experience everything in my work.

 

Greetings 

Young people are our future: our future depends on which direction they go. Korea and China have long affected each other, sharing thoughts and characters in the same cultural sphere. These beautiful exchanges were cut off for some time but have started up once more. While resuming exchanges between the two nations, something we have to encourage and look forward to is the ‘exchange of young people.’

This time the Milal Museum brings together under the same roof the works of young artists that were discovered by the E-Land Foundation for the Arts and Culture. I am very pleased to introduce their stellar and remarkable artworks in Korea. The ideas and expressions of these young artists will serve as a momentum to lead us to what we have to consider, what messages we have to embrace, and how we have to develop them. I hope that the young people who studied hard at college and who are willing to walk a tough path will be encouraged by this exhibition in Korea. It is my wish that this event will serve as an impetus to promote further development in the relations between Korea and China.
