For the artist, choosing an artwork's subject matter and medium is equivalent to creating life. Once the decision has been made, the artist develops the artwork using the chosen materials much as they do their life.

Personally I enjoy using oil paints because it depicts the life of the painting. Every stroke and the techniques used are retained in the solid texture of the paint which looks like it should be touched. The chosen paint for this piece is Gouache for its comprehensive pallet of pigments.

I am not a fine Chinese artist, but I am very interested in Chinese ink paintings. The art represents the artists' confessions and thoughts are retained in the inks. Some paintings even depict the spirit world through various objects, but this doesn't make the artist a philosopher as some people call them. Instead, the artist is a craftsman and with their craft demonstrates thoughts and beliefs closely related to their life and language.
